How to Log a Stave Rating

Ready to capture the complete flavor profile of your whiskey? This guide walks you through logging a Full Stave Rating step by step.
Starting a New Tasting
- Open a bottle in your Collection or find it in Catalog
- Tap Log Tasting
- Select Full Stave Rating
Step 1: Appearance
Evaluate the visual characteristics:
- Color - Tap the color that matches your pour
- Legs - Tap thin, medium, or thick
- Clarity - Note if clear or hazy
- Add appearance notes (optional)
Swipe left or tap Next to continue.
Step 2: Nose
Capture the aroma profile:
- Primary Notes - Tap to select dominant aromas
- Secondary Notes - Tap to add supporting aromas
- Intensity Slider - Drag to set nose strength
- Complexity Slider - Drag to rate layers
- Add nose notes (optional)
Selected notes highlight in gold.
Step 3: Palate
Rate the flavors and mouthfeel:
- Five Stave Sliders:
- Sweet - Drag for sweetness
- Fruit - Drag for fruitiness
- Spice - Drag for spice
- Wood - Drag for oak influence
- Earth - Drag for earthy notes
- Mouthfeel - Tap to select texture
- Flavor Notes - Tap to select specific flavors
- Add palate notes
Watch the radar chart animate as you adjust sliders!
Step 4: Finish
Evaluate the aftertaste:
- Length - Tap short, medium, or long
- Character - Tap dominant finish character
- Finish Notes - Tap lingering flavors
- Add finish notes
Step 5: Overall
Bring it all together:
- Star Rating - Tap 1-5 stars
- Would Buy Again - Tap Yes / No / Maybe
- Value - Worth the price?
- Overall Notes - Add final thoughts
Tap Save to complete.

- See your StaveScore radar chart
- View your quality tier
- See your character type
- Browse all notes by section
- Tap Share to share with friends
