How do I create an account?

BarrelChatter is currently invite-only. If you have an invite, click the link in your email to register. You can also visit app.barrelchatter.com and use your invite code to sign up.

Is BarrelChatter really free?

Yes! Our Mash Bill tier is completely free forever. You can track up to 25 bottles, create 1 menu, and access the full catalog. Upgrade anytime for more features.

How do I add my first bottle?

Go to Catalog, search for your bottle, and tap "Add to Collection." You can also scan the barcode on the mobile app for quick lookup. If your bottle isn't listed, you can submit it for approval.

Can I use BarrelChatter on both web and mobile?

Yes! Your collection syncs automatically across all platforms. Use the mobile app for NFC scanning and barcode lookup, and the web app for detailed management and CSV import/export.

NFC Tags

What are NFC tags?

NFC (Near Field Communication) tags are small stickers or tags you attach to your bottles. Tap your phone on the tag to instantly access that bottle's information, log a tasting, or let friends log a guest tasting.

How do I get NFC tags?

NFC tags are available for Single Barrel and Barrel Proof subscribers. You can purchase tag packs in the app or through our website. Claim a pack by scanning its QR code.

Do NFC tags work with my phone?

Most modern smartphones support NFC. iPhone 7 and later, and most Android phones from the last 5 years, can read NFC tags. Check your phone's settings if unsure.

What are guest tastings?

When friends scan an NFC tag on your bottle, they can log their own tasting notes linked to your specific bottle. It's a great way to share and compare notes at tastings.

Subscription & Billing

How do I upgrade my plan?

Go to Settings > Subscription in the app or web app. Choose your plan and follow the prompts. You can pay via credit card or through your app store. Subscriptions sync across platforms.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes! You can cancel your subscription at any time. You'll keep access until the end of your billing period, then revert to the free tier.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied, contact us for a full refund.

What happens to my data if I downgrade?

Your data is never deleted. If you exceed the free tier limits, you can still view everything but won't be able to add new items until you upgrade or remove items.

Collection Management

How do I organize my collection by location?

Create storage locations in Settings > Storage Locations. You can create a hierarchy like "House > Living Room > Bar Cart". Then assign bottles to locations when adding or editing them.

Can I import my collection from a spreadsheet?

Yes! Go to My Collection on the web app and click Import. Upload a CSV file with your bottle data, and the importer will match bottles to our catalog. You can also export your collection anytime.

How do I track open bottles vs sealed?

Each bottle has a status field: Sealed, Open, Finished, or Sample. Change the status by editing the bottle or tapping the status badge on the detail screen.

Can I submit bottles that aren't in the catalog?

Absolutely! Search for the bottle first, and if it's not found, tap "Submit New Bottle." Fill in the details and it will be reviewed by our moderators. Once approved, it's available to everyone.

Friends & Social

How do I add friends?

You can add friends by username, friend code, or QR code. Go to Friends, tap Add Friend, and choose your method. Sharing your QR code in person is the fastest way!

How do I share my collection with friends?

Create a Menu to share a styled, public link to your collection (recipients don't need accounts). Or add friends to see their profiles and collections directly in the app.

What are collector groups?

Groups let you connect with other collectors around shared interests. Share bottles with the group, see what members are drinking, and participate in discussions. Create private groups for your tasting club or join public groups.

Can I make my collection private?

Yes! Your collection is private by default. You control exactly what you share through menus, friends, and groups. Nothing is public unless you choose to share it.

Menus & Sharing

What are menus?

Menus are shareable pages showcasing your collection. Create multiple menus for different purposes—like a bar cart menu or full collection view. Pick a theme, filter by location, and share the link.

Can I customize how my menu looks?

Yes! Choose from themes like Rustic, Elegant, or Modern, and select light or dark color mode. You can also filter which bottles appear based on storage location.

Can I print my menu?

Yes! Open your menu preview on the web and click "Download PDF" to get a printable version. Great for home bars or tasting parties.
